POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing preventive maintenance and other scheduled services. Requires good oral and written communication and customer service skills. Maintains equipment inventory records and parts records. Responsible or providing technical support, training, and repair on medical equipment or specialties. Develops and provides training to both technical and clinical staff. Performs comprehensive troubleshooting and repair, assists in the development of preventive maintenance procedures, and other technical duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Completes assigned preventive maintenance and other scheduled services; assists in the development of preventive maintenance procedures.
- Troubleshoots and repairs medical equipment systems, devices, etc; performs design modifications, rebuilds equipment, special projects, etc; reports requirements to the supervisor.
- Maintains equipment inventory to include tagging, recording, reporting of equipment additions/deletions, and documenting service events; performs initial inspections and identifies and reports pre-existing conditions to supervisor.
- Communicates with customer regarding equipment status and proper orientation of equipment.
- Provides in-service training, presentations, and orientations for equipment; assists in the technical development of BMET staff and competency evaluation; provides feedback to supervisor on a BMET's technical abilities and training needs.
- Demonstrates competencies on: test equipment, reading and diagnosing from block diagrams and schematics, diagnostic repairs required to perform daily activities; maintains expertise in the Biomedical Repair Industry through continuing education guidelines established by AAMI.
- Supports other regions/areas as appropriate.

EDUCATION:
Degree in Electronics or Equivalent Program.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of seven years mechanical electrical experience, with an expertise in at least one specialty area relating to the field of Biomedical Engineering. Specialties include respiratory, laboratory, anesthesia, and imaging.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSURE:
AAMI certification recommended.
